Our rooms

Two rooms, one way of playing

A classroom with a play kitchen, a dress-up rack and a rug in front of a big window

The Seedling room

A room for twos, with a low kitchen, a basket of dolls and a cushioned book corner. Mornings are short and slow, with a teacher always close by.

A block corner with large wooden blocks stacked on a rug in front of a low shelf

The Garden room

A big room for threes and fours, with a block corner, an art table and a window onto the garden. Children move between corners as the play changes.

The corners

Where the play happens

Both rooms have the same kinds of places to play, set up for each age.

  • Blocks

Wooden blocks, cardboard tubes and loose parts for building and knocking down.

  • Kitchen and dress-up

A play kitchen, dolls and a rack of dress-up clothes for pretend.

  • The art table

Paint, clay, paper and glue, set out low so children can reach everything.

  • Books and cushions

A quiet corner with picture books, cushions and a canopy.

  • Music

Shakers, drums and scarves for songs and moving around.

  • The yard

A mud kitchen, a sandbox, trikes and shade for the hot months.

Before the first day

What to bring and wear

  • A full change of clothes

Spare clothes in the backpack, labeled with your child's initials.

  • Shoes for the yard

Closed shoes that can get wet and muddy. We go out in the cool of the morning.

  • A water bottle

Children fill it at the low sink and keep it in their cubby.

  • A hat for sunny days

The yard has shade, and a hat helps on the brightest mornings.
